Ovulation in a 26-day cycle: day 12
A 26-day cycle means ovulation on about day 12 and most fertile days around days 10 to 12 — two days ahead of textbook advice.
For a 26-day cycle, the pregnancy-dating maths shifts too: if you conceive, an early scan may give a due date a couple of days earlier than a standard last-period calculation.
Ovulation is usually about 14 days before the next period, so in a 26-day cycle it falls on day 12 — 2 days earlier than in a 28-day cycle. A 26-day cycle is within the usual adult range of about 21–35 days.
Your 26-day cycle, phase by phase
| Phase | Cycle days |
|---|---|
| Period (typical) | Days 1–5 |
| Follicular phase | Days 1–11 (11 days) |
| Fertile window | Days 7–13, best on days 10–12 |
| Ovulation | Day 12 |
| Luteal phase | Days 13–26 (14 days) |
Start LH ovulation tests around day 9; a positive result on day 10 or 11 points to ovulation on day 12.
If your cycle is sometimes 24 or 28 days
Few cycles are identical every month. If yours ranges between 24 and 28 days, ovulation could fall anywhere from day 10 to day 14, which widens your possible fertile days to days 5 to 15. Base the start of ovulation testing on your shortest recent cycle (day 7), and expect your period between day 25 and day 29.
| Cycle length | Ovulation | Fertile window |
|---|---|---|
| 24 days | Day 10 | Days 5–11 |
| 25 days | Day 11 | Days 6–12 |
| 26 days | Day 12 | Days 7–13 |
| 27 days | Day 13 | Days 8–14 |
| 28 days | Day 14 | Days 9–15 |
