How the countdown works
Enter your due date — or the first day of your last period, and the calculator will estimate the due date first. It then counts the whole days from today to that date and converts them to weeks and days. Alongside the countdown you will see how far along you are, your trimester and month, and your progress through the 40 weeks. The count updates every day you come back.
Counting down — with realistic expectations
A due date is the middle of a window, not a deadline. Only a small share of babies are born on their due date; birth anywhere from 37 to 42 weeks is common. So when the countdown reaches zero, it simply means you have reached 40 weeks. Many people find it helpful to think of a “due month” and to treat the weeks from 37 onward as the time the baby could arrive.
| Days to go | Weeks pregnant | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 182 | 14 weeks | Start of the second trimester |
| 140 | 20 weeks | Halfway |
| 84 | 28 weeks | Start of the third trimester |
| 21 | 37 weeks | Early term |
| 7 | 39 weeks | Full term |
| 0 | 40 weeks | Estimated due date |
